Hybrid terminology

Probably obvious, but can anyone explain this to me.

For example, if you have Lilium x formolongi hort. (The Lilium and
formolongi being in italics, but my e-mail won't do that). Does this mean
the hybrid is of the genus Lilium but only one of the parents is known, that
being formolongi? Or is their more to it?

Many thanks,
