Dehydration of TC plants

Dear members,
        Thanks for all those who responded to transportation of TC plants. Even though 
we wrap these plants in sterile tissue paper some of the plants get dehydrated  or it 
gets decayed. I think the main reason for its dehydration is due to respiration of the 
plants or due to ethylene production.
     Is there any other reasons for dehydration  please suggest and how to avoid it.
